Why Hugh Jackman Served Frozen Custard in Wisconsin Before His New Film Premiere
Over the last few days I've seen many social media posts talking about how Hugh Jackman was going to be serving up custard in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday and I thought, "This can't be for real, right?" Turns out, I was wrong.
Hugh Jackman was absolutely in Milwaukee on Tuesday, December 2, and serving up custard wasn't the only thing he was doing there.
New 'Song Sung Blue' Movie
I'm a big fan of Hugh Jackman, especially in movies where he sings, so I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I had no idea he has a new movie coming out called "Song Sung Blue".
Milwaukee's Tie to 'Song Sung Blue' Movie
This movie isn't a Neil Diamond biopic. It's about the lives of a couple named Mike and Claire Sardina who spent years paying tribute to Neil Diamond and Patsy Cline at bars and theaters all over Milwaukee.
Song Sung Blue officially hits theaters on December 25, 2025, but premiered in Milwaukee on December 2, and Hugh Jackman was there to celebrate in style.
(I love how red Hugh's nose is in these pics...you can tell it was cold in Milwaukee, LOL!)
Hugh Jackman wasn't the only star in attendance at the private movie screening according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Claire Sardina, played by Kate Hudson in the film, was also in attendance at the local premiere along with her daughter Rachel Cartwright, portrayed by Ella Anderson. They joined Jackman, Brewer and Fox6 Milwaukee's Gino Salomone for a 12-minute introduction — where Jackman and Brewer surprised Sardina with an engraved bench, dedicated to Lightning & Thunder, that will have a permanent home at the Wisconsin State Fair, where the band often performed and even got married.
Hugh Jackman Scooping Custard in Milwaukee
Craig Brewer, writer and director of Song Sung Blue, says Hugh Jackman is the one who demanded the movie's premiere take place in Milwaukee. Jackman also flew in early to scoop up some custard at Kopp's Frozen Custard in Greenfield where he enjoyed his first taste of the sweet, creamy treat!
Hugh Jackman also took a moment to truly experience what it's like to be a Wisconsinite by sporting his own stylish cheesehat:
I don't know about you, but I've never seen a cheesehat look so good. LOL!
