The easiest way to return an item you were gifted for Christmas 2020 is to just keep it. Someone or some people risked their health to make sure that item was available. But, seriously, you're probably going to Google a store's return policy, so let me save you some time. Here are brief descriptions of some of the biggest stores' return policies in the Rockford area. Consider this my gift to you.

Kohl's: Items need to be returne by 1/31/21.

Target: Select items purchased 10/1-12/25/20 have 15 or 30 days to be returned.

Walmart: This is confusing, some items purchased 10/16-12/25/20 need to be returned 1/8/21, 1/24/21, or 2/23/21.

Best Buy: Most returns need to be back by Jan. 16, including in-store returns and shipping using a prepaid UPS label.

Amazon: Will allow items shipped between Oct. 1 and New Year’s Eve to be returned by Jan. 31, 2021. Amazon returns can be dropped off without a box or label at Kohls and UPS stores. (Third-party sellers may have different policies.)

Farm and Fleet: You may return or exchange most merchandise* within sixty (60) days with your original cash register receipt, or return form and packing slip if the merchandise was purchased online.

JCPenney: Items purchased at JCPenney are eligible for return with or without a receipt.

Macy's: Holiday returns must happen by Jan. 31 for orders placed Nov. 1 – Dec. 31, for items that have a 60-day policy, or 60 days, whichever is later.

Barnes & Noble: The book, music and toy seller has a 14-day window for returns.

Costco: The warehouse chain has a 90-day return deadline for some electronics and appliances; there is no deadline for most merchandise.

Bed, Bath, & Beyond: Returns with an original receipt can be made at any stores nationwide for an exchange or merchandise refund for the amount paid for 180 days.

T.J. MAXX: Returns must be made by Jan. 25 for orders made between Oct. 13 and Dec. 24.
