Experience Your Own Version of Hogwarts At This Beautiful Castle in Illinois
If you love all things Harry Potter, does this Illinois castle remind you of anything?
That beautiful building pictured above is actually Bettendorf Castle in Fox River Grove, Illinois, and many people think it looks a lot like Harry Potter's beloved Hogwarts. Do you see the resemblance?
The History of Bettendorf Castle
A man named Theodore Bettendorf, who was an immigrant from Luxembourg, began building this beautiful castle in 1931, and it took him 36 YEARS to complete his masterpiece, and it's legit!
Only In Your State says Bettendorf's main goal for building this home was to make it as authentic as possible, so he added everything a true castle needs like a moat, a drawbridge, a dungeon, and even an observation tower...
The Bettendorf Castle Today
Bettendorf Castle has been immaculately kept up all these years, and although it is not typically open to the public, the Castle does host several tours, weddings, and special events throughout the year...including a Halloween Extravaganza this weekend!
