The new signs were installed on Friday on Guilford Rd between Alpine and Mulford.

The speed limit is now officially 35 mph. WREX-TV reports that after both the City of Rockford and Rockford Township approved the move, the signs were changed Friday.

Last fall a study performed by engineers in Winnebego Country recommended lowering the speed limit from 40 mph to 35 mph..

WREX reports that one of the factors in lower speed limit was the number of accidents on that occurred on Guilford Road.

The Rockford Register reported that on Friday Feb 6th a 24-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman died  after a two-car crash near Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club.
