If you are like me and were sickened by the story of torture that took place of a special needs young man from Crystal Lake in Chicago, you can do a little something to help.

If you have not been following this sad story, a Facebook Live video surfaced on Tuesday showing four individuals tormenting and torturing an 18-year old special needs Streamwood man, whose hands were tied and his mouth covered. In the viral video, two people can be seen cut the man's clothes while others in the group laughed, the man could also be seen bleeding from the head after one of the assailants cut his hair with a knife. In another video, the man was forced to drink water from a toilet.

Chicago police held a news conference on Thursday with an update. Police say that the abuse took place over a period of 4-5 hours and authorities believe the man was kidnapped for over 24 hours.

Those involved in the incident have been arrested and charged. DNAInfo reports that those charged include

  • Jordan Hall, 18
  • Tesfaye Cooper, 18;
  • Brittany Covington, 28
  • Tanishia Covington, 24

Charges include:

  • Hate crime
  • Aggravated kidnapping
  • Aggravated unlawful restraint
  • Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
  • Robbery
  • Possessing a stolen car and residential burglary

The good news is that a Gofundme Page has been set up for those who would like to help the man who was the victim in this awful crime. As of Thursday Afternoon the campaign has raised over $12,500.00. This page is the OFFICIAL page for donations. NPR reports that

a public relations representative for GoFundMe says the website will be working with the campaign organizer to ensure all money raised reaches the victim.
