K9 Loki's handler, Deputy Robert Rosenkranz, was conducting a traffic stop on I-90 on that night when his squad car was hit with Loki inside. The deputy sustained some minor injuries. Had he been in the vehicle with Loki, judging by this photo of the wreckage, he likely would've been killed also.

The department is strongly encouraging us to not attend this funeral in person, due to current COVID-19 restrictions.
