Freeport Girl Surprised At School By U.S. Navy Serviceman Dad

Alexa hasn't seen her dad in over a year because of his duties overseas, that is until she got a big surprise at school this week.

U.S. Navy serviceman Anthony Schmitz has been serving our country far away from his family for more than a year. While able to get home for a few days he decided to surprise his daughter while she was at school at a Freeport elementary school.

Anthony Schmitz told WREX he plans on taking the family to Chicago for a few days before he leaves for Japan, where he'll be stationed until October.
