One of Rockford's biggest landmarks is getting a new fresh look since its last update in the mid-1990s thanks to the owners of downtown Rockford's soon-to-open Embassy Suites, Gorman & Company. An endeavor involving 470 gallons of fresh paint.

With the city-owned Rockford Conference Center and Gorman & Company’s adjacent Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford Riverfront set to open this summer, the building – situated in the park just north of the new conference center – will be repainted over the next few weeks. Weather dependent, Nova Painting & Decorating of Rockford will begin repainting the entire structure today.

Before thanking Gorman & Co. Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara highlighted how the fresh new look Founders Landing (a.k.a. the Lorden building) will add to the more appeal to Davis Park and its future.

While the City and the Davis Park Task Force continue to explore ways to redevelop Davis Park, painting the Lorden building will give it some new life and will make it a much better neighbor to the new conference center and Embassy Suites.

The building’s new color scheme will match the look of the city's new conference center as well as the hotel. The new colors can already spotted throughout the park, white, grey with accent colors of green, yellow, and black.
