A memorial commemorating the life of a former Winnebago County Coroner will be unveiled this week.

Winnebago County Honors a Lifetime of Public Service

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office will honor the life and legacy of former Coroner Elizabeth "Sue" Fiduccia with a memorial unveiling ceremony on Thursday, July 2.

According to the press release, the event will recognize the decades of dedication and service Fiduccia gave to Winnebago County residents, and will be held at the Old Courthouse in Rockford, marking nearly two years since Fiduccia's passing on July 3, 2024.

Permanent Memorial to Preserve Her Legacy

The ceremony for Sue Fiduccia will begin at 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Old Courthouse inside the Coroner's Office, where the memorial wall hanging will be unveiled in her honor.

The permanent tribute is intended to recognize her years of leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public service while preserving her legacy for future generations of county employees and visitors.

Family, Friends, and Colleagues to Attend

Family members, friends, current county employees, and former colleagues of Fiduccia are expected to attend the ceremony, although the gathering is intended to be primarily for those closest to her.

Following the unveiling of the memorial, attendees will enjoy a reception with light refreshments as they reflect on the lasting impact that Sue Fiduccia made on Winnebago County through her years of dedicated service.
