A woman was found dead from a gunshot wound early on Tuesday morning just south of downtown Rockford.

Woman Found Dead in Early Morning Shooting

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to a vehicle in the 900 block of Kishwaukee Street at approximately 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday morning (9/30).

Upon arriving on the scene, RPD officers immediately discovered a woman in the vehicle who was dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The female was identified as being 34 years old, according to the report.

Police Continue Investigation

Rockford Police Detectives are actively investigating the case, but no additional details have been released as of the time this story was published.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any suspects have been identified or if the shooting is connected to other recent incidents around the city of Rockford.
