A deadly crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning (5/28) has left a Rockford family mourning the loss of a 29-year-old man.

According to the press release, Rockford Police responded to a serious traffic collision just before 1 am in the N. Alpine and Guilford Road intersection, where a vehicle reportedly struck another car before veering off the road and slamming into a pole.

Driver Has to Be Extricated

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they immediately began to extricate the 29-year-old male driver from his wrecked vehicle and transported him to a local Rockford hospital.

According to the press release, the 29-year-old died from his injuries at the hospital. A second driver was involved in the accident, but their identity and condition were not released by the time this story was published.

Public Urged to Assist in Ongoing Investigation

Rockford PD continues to investigate the crash, and they ask that anyone who has information about the incident to contact authorities at 815-966-2900 or connect through RPD social media channels.
