Family Fun Up For Grabs This Memorial Day Weekend in Northern Illinois

There are a few things one can count on every year when Memorial Day weekend rolls around;

• It will most likely rain on one, (or all), days of the long weekend.
• The smell of grilling meat will greet you wherever you go.
• There will be lots of parades to attend, and you will either be sweating OR freezing while you sit and watch them.

What's Happening in the 815 This Memorial Day Weekend

We're still a few days out from the main event, but at this point, the forecast is looking pretty fabulous for the 2022 Memorial Day weekend in the Rockford area. So, I think it is our duty to get out of our homes and soak up every inch of fun this weekend has to throw at us. Sound like a plan? Here are just a few of the Memorial Day events happening in the Rockford area this weekend:

• Friday, May 27, 2022 - Week 2 of Rockford City Market 
• Friday, May 27 - Sunday, May 29, 2022 - Byron Firefighter's Association Kick-Off to Summer Carnival at the Byron Fire Department at 123 N Franklin Street in Byron.
• Saturday, May 28, 2022 - Miracle Mile's 5th Annual Cruise and Car Show - the fun begins at 8 a.m. at the Rockford Speedway with a burn-out show and more before cars 'cruise' to the Miracle Mile for a cruise show featuring 60+ cars.
• Saturday, May 28, 2022 - Salute to Military Night at the Rockford Speedway. Gates open at 5 p.m., and racing starts at 7:07 p.m.
• Saturday, May 28, 2022 - Rocktown Adventures' Paddle Trip on the Sugar River.
• Monday, May 30, 2022 - Rockford's Memorial Day Parade - Begins at 9 a.m. on 7th St. and travels 7th St. to Charles St., Charles St. to State St., turns north on Wyman St., and then proceeds to Beattie Park where the parade will end.
• Monday, May 30, 2022 - Roscoe's Memorial Day Parade - Begins at 10:30 a.m. at Bridge and Main Streets in Roscoe.
• Monday, May 30, 2022 - Pecatonica Memorial Day Parade - Begins at 2 p.m. at 7th and Main Street and travels through Downtown Pecatonica.
