Between waterparks and festivals, summer camps and family vacations, you have to set a strict budget to enjoy all the fun summer offers—but what if your budget doesn’t stretch far enough?

Having two young kids, I learned very quickly that pairing unique affordable outings with a few experiences you splurge on is the key to having an enjoyable summer. Here’s one I’m definitely adding to this year’s calendar.

The Drive 815

When we have nothing going on, weekend nights are usually family movie nights in my house. My kids love going to the movie theater, but the one place we haven't taken them to yet is a drive-in movie theater. (Shameful, I know.)

Honestly, I think one of the main reasons we haven't gone to a drive-in movie yet is because there isn't one close to home, but...now there kind of is.

Since 2021, The Drive 815 has been hosting outdoor movie nights at the Rockton Athletic Fields located at 12801 Old River Road featuring activities for kids, characters, concessions and a family-friendly movie under the stars.

Here's the movie and entertainment lineup for The Drive 815's opening weekend, this  Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21:

Tickets for The Drive 815 movie nights are $25 per carload, ($35 at the gate), and can be purchased in advance here.

Can't make it to The Drive 815 this weekend? No worries! Here are all of the dates they have scheduled for this summer, with more to come soon:

  • June 27 & 28
  • July 5
  • July 18
