Facebook Just Dropped a Secret Messenger Option and We’re Freaking Out

Sure we don't need this, but we totally love it.

Facebook messenger is basically AOL Instant Messenger on steroids. And we all use it like every day.

Whether it's to send a quick message at work or share the most amazing Buzzfeed story with your BFF.

And now there's a new version of Messenger you can use on your phone if you're more into a black background instead of a white one.

I myself have no preference, though now that I have the dark mode on my phone I kind of like it.

All you need to do to activate the mode is send a half moon emoji to ANY of your Facebook friends and boom, you can access dark mode.

How weird is that, right? You send the half moon emoji and moons fly all over the place and then you've uncovered the dark mode option.

You then have to swipe the Dark Mode option to turn it on, and then boom, you're basically sending Facebook messages at a bowling ally after 10 p.m.
