Eating Snow is Not as Harmless as You Think
One thing we definitely have an abundance of right now is Snow. It's absolutely everywhere. When I was young I remember eating it, but is it really safe to consume?According to Accuweather.com, that depends on a few different factors. Well pure snow is just water but it really can but it can be contaminated easily. in the Midwest we use lots of salt and chemicals to melt ice so that we can still get to where we're going. Snow can also contain airborne stuff like smoke, fumes and exhaust. Just about any snow can contain pollution. Like microbes, dirt and even animal debris.
In actuality, You can get sick from eating snow in a large city as well as rural areas, large cities have way more pollution and rural areas contain agricultural chemicals that's no good for you either. Some people have gotten sick ingesting snow, with symptoms like fever, chills, vomiting and even diarrhea is some cases. From Bacteria to chemicals, there are quite a few things that can make you sick if you eat snow. But if you must, fresh snow is always best or you could just hold your tongue out and catch it before it hits the ground.
