Dixon Walmart Working with Police on Handling Face Mask Problems
Out of about 100 people entering the Walmart in Dixon, about 20 of them weren't wearing masks, according to Sauk Valley News (SVN). I'm struggling to understand why. Why are some people refusing to wear face masks? Wait, some people can't for medical reasons. I'm sure there are a group of people that legitimately have medical instructions to avoid the masks. I don't understand the reason behind it, but surely reasons exist. However, it's also safe to assume some are opting to not wear a mask because it's their choice.
In Dixon, Sauk Valley News conducted a study on the number of people entering their local Walmart. They counted how many people wore masks into the store, how many went back to their vehicle to retrieve their mask, and how many went into the store without a mask. No one was escorted from the store for not wearing a mask, according to the SVN. And, when asking Walmart if they will be strictly enforcing face masks, a corporate spokesperson responded with this,
Our COVID-19 protocols have continued to adapt during the pandemic in response to evolving research and mandates spanning the country. Additional safety changes are taking effect to expand our efforts in reminding customers of the importance and necessity of wearing face coverings in our stores.
SVN also asked someone from that specific Dixon Walmart about future plans, to which they were told the location is working with local police "should problems arise." There are no details on the specifics of potential "problems."
Please remember, even if you believe you're in good health the mask isn't about you, it's about protecting family, friends, and others who may have a weak immune system or other health problems. Wear your mask.
