DeKalb Patrol Officer Died on Saturday

At last night's city council meeting a moment of silence was held for DeKalb Patrol Officer Thomas Reilly who passed away over the weekend.

The Daily Chronicle reports that DeKalb Police Chief Gene Lowery that Patrol officer Thomas Reilly died in his home Saturday morning.

Lowery also indicated the matter is under investigation by the Illinois State Police. Foul play is not suspected

At the televised city council meeting, DeKalb Mayor John Rey called the news "tragic".

Chief Lowery told the Daily Chronicle:

Officer Tom Reilly was a seasoned veteran of our police department, this is a very tragic and sad time for his family and our department.
