'Chicago Fire' is one of my favorite shows for many different reasons:

  • Lieutenant Severide (Taylor Kinney is HOT!!)
  • I hold a special place in my heart for firefighters (Many of my friends and family members are/were firefighters).
  • I love seeing all the familiar places the show features in its episodes.

An extra perk to living in Illinois is that we have several opportunities each year to be extras on 'Chicago Fire', and if we happen to be in the right place at the right time we might get close to all the filming action too...like tonight, for example.

'Chicago Fire' To Film Explosion Scene At a Wheaton, IL Cabin Tonight

According to the Daily Herald, 'Chicago Fire' crews will be set up in a Northside Park today, specifically the Boy Scout cabin located within the park's woods, filming scenes for an upcoming episode featuring an explosion;

Crews will be shooting an action sequence with simulated gunfire, using weapons loaded with blank rounds, according to a city advisory notice. Residents may hear what sounds like gunfire, but no real ammunition will be used.

Filming in Wheaton is expected to begin at 5 p.m. tonight and will continue through the overnight hours, and portions of the park will be closed off so I'm not sure how close we'll be able to get to all the action.

Do You Remember How Season 10 of 'Chicago Fire' Ended?

Seeing how I'm a big fan of 'Chicago Fire', I am a bit concerned about what this upcoming season will bring for my fav character Lt. Kelly Severide.  If you remember, the season 10 finale ended with newly married couple, Kelly and Stella, beginning their honeymoon at a secluded Illinois cabin. Now the show is filming a shooting/explosion scene AT A CABIN for the upcoming season?!? I'm freaking out a little bit about the fate of my beloved Severide and Kidd!

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens when the new season of 'Chicago Fire' premiers on NBC on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
