The Chicago Cubs avoided arbitration (and Cubs fans rioting) by signing two star players to one year deals. ESPN

Both Kris Bryant and Javy Baez were signed to one year deals with the Chicago Cubs. Kris Bryant agreed to a deal with the team for $19.5 million, this will be his seventh season with the Chicago Cubs. Last season wasn't one of his best, dealing with injuries...But Kris is one of those fan favorite superstars that letting him get away, would have rocked the fanbase. There is still a good possibility that after the 2021 season is over, Bryant will test the free agent waters and go land a massive contract on another team.

Javy Baez, the talented Cubs shortstop signed a one year deal worth $11.65. There's a much better chance that Javy Baez will at some point land a multi-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. These talks actually started last year, but were paused because of COVID-19.

The Chicago Cubs have begun a bit of "house cleaning" with big money contracts and players. So, here are a couple positive moves for the Chicago Cubs fanbase the keep people happy and hopefully butts in seats for the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

Check out this hilarious video of Kris Bryant, pranking a college baseball team as he went undercover as a potential transfer.
