The Chicago Bears, who have forever called Illinois home, are one step closer to leaving the Land of Lincoln for Indiana.
Chicago Bears Move to Indiana? Latest Stadium Talks Raise Questions
NFL insider, Ian Rapoport, on X said, "Illinois cancelled a meeting this morning in the House, where a project bill was to be discussed."
Apparently, this meeting did involve the Bears, but now the sudden cancellation, and this from the Governor of Indiana, Mike Braun, with this too:
Indiana is open for business, and our pro-growth environment continues to attract major opportunities like this partnership with the Chicago Bears.
Then there's this statement from the Chicago Bears organization:
We are committed to finishing the site-specific necessary due diligence to support our vision to build a world-class stadium near the Wolf Lake area in Hammond, Indiana.

Illinois House Meeting Cancellation Fuels Stadium Relocation Speculation
The statement also refers to the appreciative nature of leadership shown by Indiana congresspeople who are integral in "establishing this critical framework and path forward to deliver a premier venue for all of Chicagoland and a destination for Bears fans and visitors from across the globe. We value our partnership and look forward to continuing to build our working relationship together."

Bears Confirm Hammond, Indiana Stadium Vision Near Wolf Lake
To me, it almost sounds like it's a done deal, and the Bears are headed out of state to play their games. Is this all just a ploy to get the thing done in Arlington Heights?
