Cherry Valley may not have topped the latest list from Consumer Affairs, but I'm still mighty proud of the little village I love to call home for coming in 4th on the list of the safest places to live in Illinois.

Let's face it, it's not often that this area lands on any kind of "safest place for ----" list, so Cherry Valley definitely deserves to be commended!

This latest ranking from Consumer Affairs was based on the number of officers per 10,000 people, and since there are about 15 officers serving the 3,100 residents of Cherry Valley, they ranked pretty high on the list.

Rockford was ranked 115 out of 239, Loves Park came in at 193 and Machesney Park came in at 220.
