Friday night Rockford natives Cheap Trick will officially be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony in New York City, but one famous name refused to be a part of the band's special night.

In my mind the induction conversation went like this:

Cheap Trick says to Howard Stern; "We want you to want us", to which Howard replies; "No, but I'm begging you to beg me."

Lame joke, I know, but I couldn't help myself.

Here's what really happened.

According to the Rockford Register Star, Cheap Trick recently stopped by Howard Stern's satellite show to talk about their Hall of Fame induction and their brand new album, "Bang Zoom Crazy...Hello". While there they admitted to Stern that they wanted him to officially induct them into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame during the ceremony.  Sten replied first replied with a joke about not having a face for television, but then followed it up with a serious explanation for his refusal:

"I would be too nervous to induct you into the Hall of Fame, honestly," he said. "I feel so strongly about you … I feel I wouldn’t do your legacy honor enough. I don’t know that I could deliver the right words.”

I guess we can respect that reasoning. Kid Rock will now be inducting the band during the ceremony instead.

Cheap Trick, for what it's worth, we would NEVER say no to you. Have fun tonight, Rockford is so very proud of you!
