Mother's Day (May 13) on American Idol not only paid homage to moms across the country, it also had the standing Top 5 contestants performing two songs in order to win votes from America — and one of the songs had to be from the catalog of the most successful Idol ever, Carrie Underwood.

In order to usher in this special night in style, nothing else would do, of course, but a performance from Underwood herself. The superstar, dressed in stunning emerald gown, taking the stage with all five hopefuls in a group rendition of her 2013 single "See You Again" — and in true workhouse Idol form, she didn't just sing a few token lines, she delivered the entire song with them, trading off turns with each hopeful and letting them show off their skills.

Carrie May Be the Same, But Country Music Has Changed!

The episode also included a special tribute to Underwood preceding the Top 5's solo performances, with Underwood — who was also serving as mentor to the contestants on this night — giving some sage advice about her journey following the show.

"I hope they can look at me and see what's possible: I can be doing this 13 years later," she noted.
