Did you know, one of the ugliest homes in America was just featured on TV?
Actually, the name of the show is called Ugliest House in America, and just last night, the premiere of Season 7 landed on HGTV.
The Candyland House: A Colorful History
The home is owned by Joe Bergantino and Ricky Gonzalez. They bought the Candyland House in 2022 from longtime artists Jackie and Don Seiden. When Bergantino and Gonzalez made the purchase, they both agreed to keep some of the charm as part of the quirky character.
The 130-year-old-plus Victorian home is well known in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago for its bright colors and glitter-accented interiors, and now it's getting national attention.

Behind the Scenes: Filming for HGTV
The owners have been making some improvements on the home chronicled on Instagram, but took a sudden pause. They teased that something big was happening behind the scenes. It was HGTV filming at their place over the summer, which, according to Block Club Chicago, was for 12 hours even though the segment was just a few minutes long.

Future Plans: Preservation Over Minimalism
Should Bergantino and Gonzalez win the $150,000 prize for renovations, they said it would never be stripped down to just a boring black, gray, or white.
