The plan has changed for the development of a building in downtown Rockford.

Things are exciting in downtown Rockford. There's so much going on. New businesses are opening. Projects are being announced. It's a good time for our community.

Here's the latest news from rrstar.com,

"Joseph James Partners will transform the vacant, city-owned former Trekk Media building in downtown Rockford into a mixed-use development with SupplyCore offices on the upper level and a retail, restaurant or commercial tenant in the street-level space."

This is a change from the original plan.

"The 134 N. Main St. building was once targeted for a major renovation into a 76-room, multi-story boutique hotel. But those plans evaporated last year when the city didn’t move forward with asbestos abatement in the roof and Joseph James missed deadlines for coming up with financing and construction plans."

I was actually thinking about this location recently and wondering what was going to happen with it. I'm glad they now have a new plan.
