A special gift from this Illinois zoo to bug your ex on Valentine's Day.

The Pros And Cons Of Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a really strange holiday. Most people either like it or hate it. There is really no in-between. If you have a special someone to spend it with, then you are a big fan. For single folks, it is a miserable day. Especially, if there was a bad break-up involved.

Some Innocent Revenge Is Okay On Valentine's Day

Sometimes when you are feeling bad on a holiday like Valentine's Day, a simple and innocent act of revenge can make you feel better. I am not talking about something evil. For example, I was involved with a bar promotion several years ago that was perfect.

People could bring pictures, letters, cards, etc from their ex and destroy them in a paper shredder we supplied. Then they got some candy and flowers from us to help ease the pain. The participants love it. There were smiles on their faces.

Ways To Support Your Local Zoo

My family and I have always enjoyed visiting the animals at the zoo. We try to go to one every summer. It takes a lot of money to operate a zoo, so they hold fundraisers.

One of my favorites is the "adopt an animal" program. Basically, you make a donation to adopt your favorite animal at the zoo. In turn, you receive a certificate, photo, and info about it. Then your next visit is just a little bit more special. I did it for my wife a few years ago and she loved it. The perfect Valentine's Day gift.

Perfect Un-Valentine's Day Gift For Your Ex

Maybe, you are not feeling Valentine's Day this year because of a bad breakup with your ex. If you are looking for something to help you feel a little bit better, I think I have the perfect solution. It combines some sweet innocent revenge while helping out a great cause.

According to czs.org,

"Valentine's Day is a time when we celebrate the love we have for one another."

"But for some, Valentine's Day is a time when they remember, despite all efforts, those who spurned that love."

"Who's to say they can't celebrate Valentine's Day as well?"

Once again, Brookfield Zoo is offering the opportunity to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after your ex for Valentine's Day. It is just a $15 donation. The package includes a certificate of naming to remind you that a gross bug is named after your former partner. Their name will also be hung up in the zoo and posted on social media. That could definitely help you feel a little bit better.

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
