Body Pulled From Rock River Near Downtown Rockford

Authorities were called to the Rock River near East State Street after someone reported a body in the water.

Details are limited but Rockford's Police and Fire Department, Illinois State Police, and Winnebago County Coroner's office collaboratively handled the scene, according to WREX. Reports say a 75-year-old was pulled from the river before Luther center. Luther Center is home to residents 55+, including assisted living for seniors.

Although officials are working to contact the victim's family, due to the observance of Veteran's Day, the coroner's office will conduct an autopsy on Tuesday.
