4 Illinois and Wisconsin Colleges Rank in Top 40 ‘Best in U.S.’

For those Illinois high school Seniors who want to attend college this fall and haven't decided on a school, you better get things moving.

How to Know Which Illinois or Wisconsin College is Best for You?

It was way back in 1992 when I was a Senior in High School in southern Indiana and searching for a college with a Communications or Broadcasting program and had a dream of attending Northwestern.

But it was a Junior College in Vincennes, Indiana that caught my eye because of the immediate hands-on opportunities with the school's student-run Television and radio stations.

Because a college is ranked "the best" by U.S. News and World Report, it doesn't necessarily mean it will be the perfect school for you, but let's take a look at which schools in the Midwest made the Top 40 Best National University Ranking.

But on the list of Best Colleges in America, there are more in our area that ranked in the Top 40.

9th Best College in America is Northwestern where it costs over $65,000 in tuition, according to US News and World Report.

Offering college life in a big-city setting, the University of Chicago is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

Tuition to be a "Golden Domer" is over $60k with just under 9000 students attending the University of Notre Dame.

In-state tuition is under $18,000 a year, but out-of-staters get hit with tuition over $57,000 at the University of Michigan.

Ranked as the 35th best institution of higher learning, the University of Illinois in Champaign has 35,000 undergrad students, with an in-state tuition of around $17,000 and $36,000 for out-of-state students.

Madison is home to the University of Wisconsin Badgers and the 36th-best college in the U.S.
