An Illinois Man Created A Feces Fountain And, Yes, There’s A Reason
This is not a play on words, there is absolutely a feces fountain in Illinois. If you look for this specific fountain on Google Street View the "art" is purposefully blurred.
The backstory on this fountain is fascinating when you learn who created it and the other sculptures and art they're responsible for.
His name is Jerzy Kenar and he is a sculptor whose work you may have seen around Chicago.
He's known for creating pieces for church architecture and public pieces created by political inspiration.
He's also the creator of "Sh*t Fountain" in Chicago.
He's not breaking any sort of public indecency rules because the feces fountain is sitting on his property, though it's very much in public view. The city nor his neighbors are concerned about this unique sculpture, according to AtlasObscura.com. In fact, people who live in the area get a kick out of it.
The inspiration has nothing to do with religion or politics, it was inspired by dogs in his neighborhood.
This not-so-crappy fountain is a tribute to the dogs who poo on his flowers.
TALK ABOUT PUTTING THE "SHI" IN CHICAGO
The sculpture is a working fountain with a pile of poo (made of metal) sitting atop a pedestal.
The metal make sits atop a three-foot sandstone pedestal like a classical Grecian bust and slowly dribbles water into a shallow basin.
The fountain is such a popular attraction that it is listed on Google Maps.
I think you will be amused when you see it.
You can see it in person at 1001 North Wolcott Avenue in Chicago.
