Amazon Follows Target And Drops Minimum Amount for Free Shipping
Here's the truth, I love Amazon. I am a Prime member who really enjoys the convenience of getting free 2-day shopping on almost everything, but I also realize why people are frustrated that Amazon is ruining the local and small business shopping world.
I also know everybody will really be hating on Amazon for ruining the local Christmas shopping experience, even more, this year with this announcement...or will they?
According to WGN;
Amazon is following Target and temporarily dropping the minimum amount shoppers need to spend to qualify for free shipping.
Typically, Amazon shoppers need to spend $25 to qualify for free shipping or pay $119 a year for a Prime membership. Amazon’s offer, which started Monday, applies to hundreds of millions of items and on orders that arrive in time for Christmas.
I know what you're thinking... "what's the catch", right? WGN reports; "Shoppers who aren’t Prime members will get slower shipping, though, which can take five to eight days."
So, Target and Amazon are offering free shipping this holiday season, will Walmart be next? No. WGN says Walmart reps "told reporters after the Target announcement that it has no plans to change its shipping policy."
Only time will tell I guess.
