Rockford's skies recently witnessed a heartfelt and historic moment as Allegiant Airlines Captain Leo and his daughter, First Officer Valerie, touched down together for the first time as an official flight crew.

Chicago Rockford International Airport

Having lived in the Rockford, Illinois area my entire life I ashamed to admit that I have never flown to or from the Chicago Rockford International Airport. It's not that I am against flying out of RFD, it's just that RFD hasn't offered flights to places I've needed to go to...yet.

I constantly hear people raving about how convenient and easy flying out of Chicago Rockford International Airport is, so one of my big goals in 2025 is to fly from Rockford to Nashville when Allegiant Airlines brings the flights back in May.

In case you didn't know, Allegiant Airlines also offers flights from Rockford to Los Angeles (LAX) at certain times of the year, and recently something pretty cool happened on one of those flights traveling to Rockford.

Allegiant Airlines' Father/Daughter Flight Crew

Daughters and sons wanting to do what their parents do when they grow up is a pretty common thing these days, but it's not very often that you hear about a aviation-loving father raising, training, and flying with his aviation-loving daughter. Check out this story recently shared by Allegiant Airlines on Facebook...( I especially love the video shared in this post, so don't miss it!)

Will Captain Leo and First Officer Valerie be piloting your next flight to Los Angeles from Rockford? (LAX flights return May 2025) I guess we'll just have to book and see!
