Aaron Rodgers Says He’ll Be Guest-Hosting On “Jeopardy”

Since the passing of its legendary host, Alex Trebek, America's favorite game show, Jeopardy, has been in a sort of holding pattern while the decision is made on who will take over as permanent host.

For the last short while, it's been Jeopardy's mega-winner (74 games, over $2 million in winnings), Ken Jennings. Internet rumblings say that Katie Couric will also pull a shift or two.

Then came the news yesterday that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be taking a turn as an interim guest host.

Except there was a little problem. Rodgers himself made the announcement while being interviewed on "The Pat McAfee Show" Tuesday, before clearing that information with the producers of Jeopardy. Obviously, he's not making this up, having been a winning contestant on "Celebrity Jeopardy" about 5 years ago.

Packers.com says we should chalk up Aaron Rodgers spilling the beans to Rodgers being over-the-moon excited about guest hosting a show he idolizes.

Packers.com:

"I'm really excited about it. We've been talking about it for a little bit," said Rodgers during his media availability on Tuesday afternoon. "I think I may have jumped the gun a little bit so I apologize to 'Jeopardy' if they wanted to announce it, I just got so excited on the show earlier. It just went down the last couple of days, us figuring it out."

He went on to gush about how much he loves the show, loved Alex, etc. His plan is to do his guest-hosting stint when the season come to an end. As a Bears fan, I had to leave packers.com at that point. The Packers are on yet another march toward a Super Bowl, while the Bears are...um...the Bears.

For the Bears, the word jeopardy should be a word used to describe the job security of the team's management.
