While many of us are off work observing Memorial Day, politicians are actually trying to accomplish things in Springfield, Illinois. Locking down a casino in Rockford being one of them.

Nothing is set in stone yet but one State Representative is going do include legalized sports betting into the gambling expansion. According to the Associated Press, this could lead to a "yes" vote for a riverboat casino in Rockford.

Blue Island Democratic Rep. Robert Rita got Executive Committee approval Monday to proceed with the long-discussed proposal.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker believes tax revenue from expanding gambling would bring in $350 million dollars a year, money the state definitely needs.
