A website claims they found the most spectacular natural wonder in each state, and what they found in Illinois truly is a thing of beauty. It is called the Pomona Natural Bridge and it is now on my bucket list of things to do here in the Land of Lincoln.

According to the travel website called thediscoverer.com, the Pomona Natural Bridge is the most spectacular natural wonder in the state of Illinois. The bridge is located southwest of Carbondale, Illinois, and on the website they say...

"Illinois’ Natural Land Bridge is a bit of a secret, if only because people tend to overlook it. Within the Shawnee National Forest is a 30-foot-high, 8-foot-wide, and 90-foot-long bridge formed by nature herself. While this is the perfect length hike for children, they’re not the only ones who’ll get excited by the structure. After all, how often does one get to walk over a stone path quite literally fabricated by the elements?"

Honestly, it looks like a giant tree fell down over a gorge and you can walk across the tree, but it is actually a stone path. I wanted to see more of the Pamona Natural Bridge so I went to YouTube and found this video.

At about the 5-minute mark in the video you really get to see what the bridge looks like, and even though I am not a big outdoors person, I want to walk over the Pamona natural bridge so bad!
