911 Service Not Working For Many DeKalb County Residents
Police are warning residents about an interruption of 911 service for residents of DeKalb County.
DeKalb County Sheriff's Police issued an advisory on Wednesday warning that the 911 service interruption is being experienced by cell phone users who use the following providers:
- Verizon
- U.S. Cellular
The interruption started late Wednesday morning:
Some wireless customers are having problems calling 9-1-1. If you try to call 9-1-1 and your call does not go through, you can try to call the Sheriff's Office at 815-895-2155, the City of DeKalb Police at 815-748-8400, NIU Police at 815-753-1212, or the City of Sandwich Police at 815-786-2131.
Police advise residents that if they cannot get through on a cell phone, try to use a landline to contact police, in the event of an emergency.
