6 Important Fireworks Safety Tips To Remember
I'm sure you know that fireworks are illegal in Illinois, but if a rule breaker is who you like to be on the 4th of July, then PLEASE keep these six fireworks safety tips in mind.
I love watching fireworks, (from a good distance),as much as every other American, but we're not the family who wants to host a full-out fireworks show in our yard. Thankfully, we have neighbors who do...for the entire month of July. 😡
Call me a wimp, but seeing fireworks shot off in our neighborhood which has a lot of tall trees totally freaks me, my dogs, and now my kids, out.
Don't worry, I'm not the kind that calls the authorities to complain, but every time I see the sky above our home light up with fireworks I pray the responsible party is keeping safety in mind.
Since the 4th of July is just a few days away, here's 6 important fireworks safety tips from the National Council On Fireworks Safety you'll want to remember before you fire up that lighter:
- Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Save your alcohol for after the show.
- Wear safety glasses when shooting fireworks
- Light one firework at a time, and quickly move away
- Never relight a “dud” firework. Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water.
- Always have a hose or bucket of water ready and near you
- Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and placing them in a metal trash can away from any building or combustible materials until the next day.
