It's the season for giving.

Thanks to one local organization 225 kids will most definitely have a merry Christmas.

WREX, along with the Fatherhood Encouragement Project facebook page reported that over 1,000 presents were wrapped  to be handed out to the needy kids living in the Blackhawk Housing Complex.

225 kids will receive gifts that were lovingly wrapped by over a dozen volunteers including police officers at District 2 Police Station.

Dan Petrie, founder of the Fatherhood Encouragement Project Founder, said that the task that they took on was a completely at step of faith.... "to be honest, the 225 kids we completely stepped out in faith and we just said 'hey, we're going to do this and we're going to make a commitment to this and we had no idea how that was going to happen', and here we are, all 225 kids were adopted."

Oh my gosh! Did you just get the goosebumps reading that? I did.

Here's something else that makes me so proud and respect what the Fatherhood Encouragement Project is doing. Dan, their founder, said that because this year was such a success that "[their] goal next year is to adopt all the children who live in housing developments in Rockford."

Wow! that is so cool. I honestly believe they will do it to.

It warms my heart to see others getting involved in the lives of our Rockford youth and showing them what true love, car and kindness is.
