17-Year-Old To Paint Mural On State Bridge In Rockford
"My hope is that people will feel free to take pictures by the mural too and post it on social media and that way it can attract more people to this wonderful area of the city." 17-year-old Libby Frost shared that quote with WREX after city officials approved her idea. The mural would be located just west of the Joe Marino statue on the corner of State Street bridge.
Rockford's flower (Purple Coneflower) and monarch butterflies will be the focal point with, of course, R-O-C-K-F-O-R-D spelled out. Libby believes her artwork will bring excitement to the forest city.
I really want people to feel excited about the city and excited about the improvements that we're making and a great way to do this is with public art.
The two-week long project will begin this week. Click here to view a scaled down rendering of the mural.
