The first holiday weekend of the summer is almost here, and there's plenty of fun for everyone happening in the Rockford area. This is where you need to take the family this weekend.

    Join the Ski Broncs as they kick off their 50th season of entertainment Friday night at Shorewood Park in Loves Park.

    Opens Saturday at 10 a.m. Weather Permitting

    Rockford Cornhole Tournament

    5p.m. on Friday and Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.

    Saturday 4 to 9 p.m.

    View cool vehicles and enjoy Rockford's first cruise night Saturday at Don Carter Lanes on East State Street. Vehicle registration is $20 and begins at 3 p.m., spectators are free. Get more event information here.

    NASCAR Racing at the Rockford Speedway

    This Saturday night at the Rockford Speedway will be Military Appreciation Night and will also feature Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers, Kickstart Roadrunners and the fabulous open wheel excitement provided by the Illini Midgets.

    Rockford Memorial Day Parade

    Monday beginning at 9 a.m.

    The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the intersection of 7th St. and 6th Ave. in downtown Rockford, and will then proceed on 7th St. to Charles St. and then State St. until it ends at Beattie Park. Following the parade will be a moving Memorial Day ceremony and "sinking of the ship" at 11 a.m. behind the Rockford Public Library.

    Monday beginning at 2 p.m.

    Bring the family to downtown Pecatonica and enjoy this free parade featuring floats, firetrucks, horses, classic cars, music, candy and so much more.
