You may be hearing a lot of people talking about "Giving Tuesday" today, and see #GivingTuesday all over social media, and there's a good reason it. It's a new worldwide initiative, and I think it is awesome.

The #GivingTuesday website states a very clear purpose:

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

'Tis the season for giving after all, so please find a way to give back to those less fortunate than you. Teach our children compassion. Think outside the box, it doesn't always have to be monetary giving. Check out the #GivingTuesday website for fabulous ideas to get you started.

Also don't forget that the annual 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive is this Friday at the Lou Bachrodt Automall.  Pick up a toy or two today for a needy boy or girl in the Stateline, and play it under the huge tree at Lou Bachrodt on Friday. What a fabulous way to celebrate.

"Be the good you want to see in the World."
