When I first received the pic and information about today's Pet of the Week from Winnebago County Animal Services I thought, "what a lovely looking pup!" Then I read more about Misty, and my heart broke a little.

You see, Misty is far more than a fun-loving, beautiful dog. She is a survivor in need of a happily ever after, and it sounds like her sad past has done nothing to effect her love for life and attention. Here's what Amber Pinnon, Adoption & Volunteer Program Coordinator for Winnebago County Animal Services had to say about Misty, because she says it far better than I ever could...

Meet Misty! Misty is everything you could want in a dog - beautiful, intelligent, goofy, playful and very loyal. Her gorgeous eyes, black button nose, and soulful eyes can make anyone melt. This little lady wants all of your attention, she'll lay her head on your lap and give you the biggest puppy dog eyes, begging you to pet her. Misty already knows sit, but she would love a forever family to keep her busy and continue working on her new tricks! Misty was brought to us from the large fire in Rockford last week along with multiple other dogs found on the property. Some of these dogs have found their homes, but Misty is still searching for her special family! She is a gentle girl who seems to get along with other dogs and wants to make friends with everyone she meets. Does she seem like the one for you?

Please consider giving Misty the home and family she so desperately deserves. Fill out an adoption application right now to get the process started at wcasrock.org.
