It is great to see colleges and high schools work together to make a difference in the community. Especially when it involves are brave men and women who served our country. WTVO-TV  featured a story about Rock Valley College and their communications department are teaming up with Harlem High School students work on a project featuring Veterans of wars.

The Harlem Vet Project is a class tPerformancehat is taught which has a student follow a veteran for an entire year. They will document everything, their good and bad times, the story about how they fought in a war and other items.

Then the kids produce the documentary and present the Veteran with a DVD that they can keep. It is a way of keeping the dream alive and their voice be heard.

Here is an interview that was conducted last month on our sister station 1440 WROK . It features Nick Stange from Harlem High School talking about the program.

This is a great project and one that more high schools should get involved with. And thank you to all the men and women who serve and have served this great country.
