School is almost out, the days are getting longer, and the smell of funnel cakes will soon be in the air, which can only mean one thing: summer is almost here!

The calendar may say that the first day of Summer 2024 isn't until Thursday, June 20, but as far as I'm concerned, summer begins on Memorial Day weekend.

Typically, a lot of people in the Stateline area like to head to Wisconsin to celebrate the long Memorial Day weekend, but if your family is planning on staying in town this year, make plans to head to Byron. Here's why...

Kick Off To Summer Carnival in Byron, IL

Mark your calendars for Memorial Day weekend, May 24th through 26th, and get ready for a fun-filled extravaganza at the Byron Fire Department located at 123 N. Franklin St.

This three-day annual event is all about kicking off summer with all the things we've been longing for all winter long; thrilling rides, delicious treats, and classic carnival games.

Skinner's Amusements, known as the "Cadillac of Carnivals," is bringing their A-game with a dazzling array of rides. Feeling adventurous? Take a spin on the Ferris wheel for some awesome aerial views of Byron. Want to test your skills? Knock down some milk jugs or shoot some hoops to win  prizes. There's something to keep everyone entertained at this carnival, no matter how big or how small they may be.

You know what makes Byron's Kick Off To Summer Carnival even cooler? It's all for a great cause!

All carnival proceeds go directly to the Byron Firefighters Association, which supports the community and the vital services provided by Byron Fire. Doesn't that make you feel better about all the money you will spend on rides and funnel cakes?!?

Advance Tickets for Byron's Kick Off To Summer Carnival

When you're on a mission to have some major family fun, saving money is always important, right? Well, save some money and buy advance ride tickets for the Kick Off To Summer Carnival!

Beginning Monday, May 20, 2024 through Noon on Friday, May 24, families can buy a sheet of ride tickets for $20, which will definitely save you some bucks!

Byron Fire's website says;

cost is $20 for a sheet of ten tickets and rides will require 1 to 2 tickets per ride (same as years past).  Tickets purchased at the CARNIVAL will be $1.00 per ticket and rides will require 3 to 5 tickets.

Advance ride tickets can only be purchased at the Byron Fire Station, which is located at 123 N Franklin St.
