A lot of cool things happened at the Lou Bachrodt Automall last Friday during our 20th annual 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive. Every year I am amazed at how generous and supportive our community can be for local families and children in need, and this year was no exception.

If you were unable to join us on Friday, I am going to share a few of my favorite moments with you that were captured on video. I also want to personally thank 13 WREX for doing an absolutely AMAZING job covering this event with us. It certainly was a wonderful day to be a part of.

This is how we started in the morning....

I always look forward to the kids from Monroe Center school showing up. In five days these kids were able to raise $5,000 in change which they then used to buy toys for other kids in need. I get goosies just thinking about it and watching them make several trips to unload all the toys they brought and place them under the tree.

The entire day was filled with music and Christmas cheer, but seriously, is there anything  cuter than these littles singing Christmas carols?!?

Morgan Kolkmeyer and Elliot Grandia were with us all morning and early afternoon, and even took some time to play radio with our JB Love.

And even Cherry Valley's own Mo Pitney came by to support those in need here in his hometown.

There were so amazing moments on Friday that made me smile and feel so very proud to get to call Rockford, IL my home. A huge thank you to every person, business, church, school, organization and club that dropped off money or toy donations. You helped us raise over 6,000 toys and $4,000 for children and families in need here in the Stateline. The Salvation Army and we here at Q98.5 are eternally grateful for your huge hearts and giving souls. Merry Christmas to you all!
