A Hero’s Welcome for 17-Year old Heart Transplant Patient in DeKalb

With all the negative news this week, it always great to tell you about a community getting together and doing something awesome. Back in April, DeKalb resident, 17-year-old Ricky De La Cruz, had a heart transplant.

The Daily Chronicle reports that the DeKalb High School student was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Ricky needed a new heart, and on April 19th Ricky had his surgery in Chicago, and has remained in the hospital recovering since then.

Last night, Ricky returned to his hometown of DeKalb, to a hero's welcome and it was all captured on video.
