Let this be a lesson, you are never too old to start getting in shape. Shirley lives in Illinois, near St Louis and is 78 years old but she can deadlift 225 pounds.

Her granddaughter wanted to join a gym,and initially Shirley, in a interview with WGN-TV news, said she initially had no desire to join, but eventually,  her granddaughter talked her into it. One her first day working out Shirley says she and her daughter felt so much better.

Shirley now enters weightlifting competitions. Last June she was able to deadlift 215 pounds. Now she is up to 225 pounds.

 

Shirley says working out has helped her mentally and her breathing is so much better.
