Three Rockford Teens Were Arrested For Carjacking Sunday
Its a story that's in the news all the time, a driver just sitting at a stoplight waiting for it to change, then all of the sudden, someone is waving a gun in their face telling them to get out of the vehicle. When we see these stories they are usually in other states or more populated areas but this time it hit pretty close to home according to WIFR.com. This incident happened on School Street in Rockford.
Police say that the alleged carjacking happened around the 1500 block of School Street at around 2am. The victim, a 48 year old man was sitting inside his vehicle when he was approached by three armed suspects. They reportedly forced the man out of his car, relieved him of his wallet and took off in his vehicle. Police found the vehicle around the 400 block of Peach Court a little after noon on Sunday. Three teenagers matching the description were also found near the car. the suspects were all under 18, two 16 year olds and one 15 year old.
All three have been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and armed robbery. All three are currently being held at a juvenile detention center and are innocent until proven guilty. As of now, no names of the victim or suspects has been released.
