Dixon High School

This was the scene earlier today in Springfield, Illinois where the heroic acts of Officer Mark Dallas at Dixon High School were finally honored.

Yesterday as the Dixon High School seniors graduated they reserved a special honor for a man dear to all of their hearts, Officer Mark Dallas.

It's been less than 24 hours and the community of Dixon is still reeling from the school shooting. However the residents, students and the shooting suspect's mother are all grateful to Officer Mark Dallas.

After a 19-year-old former student opened fire at Dixon High School this morning, a School Resource Officer who stopped him is being hailed as a hero.

Dixon police are in the process of investigating a report of a student with a gun on school property on Wednesday morning.
