Air Quality

With air quality alerts now in effect, many are feeling the effects of smoke and pollution more than ever. It’s a tough reminder about the changing environment around us.

I normally let experts handle issues involving earth science. That's one reason I was a little alarmed when I saw "experts" talking about ozone problems over Illinois and they surprisingly weren't talking about just the Chicago area for once.

I'm not an air quality control specialist, but I don't think it's rocket science to know this thick air we've been having in Illinois is very unsafe.

If the skies have a hazy look to them Monday, it'll be for a similar reason to what Missouri and Illinois have been dealing with over the past few weeks, but this time the wildfire smoke is originating from a brand new place.

We're about to enter one of the hottest weekends of the year so far with temperatures expected to be in the mid-90s, which will make our air quality to be unhealthy around the Rockford region
