Sweden House of Rockford to Become Quality Lodge

Sweden House Lodge, a fixture for years in Rockford at 4605 E State Street will soon reopen as a Quality Lodge.

You might recall that the City of Rockford closed down the hotel in March of 2013 for safety reasons including issues with the hotel's mechanical equipment and issues with it's plumbing.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the new owner is Kal Patel of Schaumburg.

He said Monday that he bought the hotel a few months ago from a bank, which had foreclosed on the facility. The hotel will be renamed Quality Lodge, and some signage has already been changed. A “grand opening” banner hangs over the entrance.

The hotel still needs the proper permits and inspections before it can reopen.
